Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska search for best basketball players’ ends in National Training Camp in Manila

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA Presented by Alaska started its search for the best basketball players in the country through Regional Selection Camp that was held at Baguio City, Davao, Cebu and Don Bosco Institute in Makati.

Boys and girls who joined the search for the ten best boys and five best girls basketball players will become members of the Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA All-Star team. There was also a search for the boys and girls coaches who will handle the two teams.

The All-Star Team will travel overseas for their NBA experience trip together with fellow Jr. NBA All-Stars from Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. The 2015 Jr. NBA All-Stars traveled to China to watch the NBA Global Games in Shenzhen featuring the Charlotte Hornets and the L.A. Clippers.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA Presented by Alaska is one of Alaska Milk’s programs that shape, train, challenge and inspire children to achieve their dreams and aspirations in life.

“These holistic programs train children to be confident, disciplined and hardworking because Alaska Milk Corporation aims to prepare them to be winners in life in the future. This year’s program includes new locations such as Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite to reach more children and coaches and discover the best basketball players across the country,” said Blen Fernando, Marketing Director

The 2011 National Nutrition Survey conducted by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) revealed that three out of ten children aged 5-10 years were underweight while eight out of one hundred children of the same age were overweight, making malnutrition and obesity two of the most pressing nutritional problems in the Philippines today.

The Jr.NBA and Jr.WNBA presented by Alaska is under Alaska Milk’s Nutrition.Action. Champion program. It helps address the issue of overweight and undernourished Filipino children with the promotion of proper nutrition and active lifestyle through sports and outdoor play.

This year’s program started with the tip-off at in the same venue last Jan. 23. School clinics, that teach the fundamentals of basketball, ran in April with stops at Bukidnon, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Metro Manila and Puerto Princesa. New locations include Batangas, Catanduanes and Cavite.

The top 50 boys and 24 girls from the Regional Selection Camps will advance to the final selection stage in the National Training Camp in Manila on April 22-24.

NBA and WNBA legends Norris Cole of New Orleans Pelicans and Taj McWilliams, former Minnesota Lynx, will attend the National Training Camp to help train and inspire the finalists. The program will culminate with the selection of ten Jr. NBA and five Jr. WNBA All-Stars.

More than 36,000 players and 2,700 coaches have participated in the program since it started in the Philippines in 2007. During the 2015-16 season, the Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA program will reach more than 6.5 million youth in 32 countries.

The Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA is the league’s global youth basketball participation program for boys and girls which teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.

Diyos-Diyosan: Election Movie for a Wiser Filipino Voters!

The film “Diyos-Diyosan” is a socio-political film that tackles a very timely issue in the Philippines. Written and Directed by Cesar Evangelista Buendia, this film aims to educate all the Filipinos to become a responsible and wise voter.

Starring ABS CBN Banana Split star John Prats, and veteran actress Princess Punzalan, the film “Diyos-Diyosan” challenged their versatility as an actor.

The story revolves around Mojica’s life struggle to be recognized by the society but soon after that recognition becomes his hunger for power.

Seraphimsnotes points of view;

Must watch movie for all Filipino Voters to be more attentive with one's political candidate towards their personality, behavior and socio-economic concerns to all levels of society.

To be more observant not only on their platforms and sweet tongue but also, towards their human to human approach. Most importantly, if they have faith in our creator because their rise and fall will only be dictated towards his own will and understanding.

My only wish, whatever the outcome will be. Hope, they will serve Filipino Race with heart's compassion, integrity, dignity & honesty.

May they have the heart for needy &  poor people, they should have more concern on others welfare rather than their own agenda. May the Philippines be prosperous and inclined to economic progress for the betterment of all Filipino People. Corruption and crab mentality no more. Rudeness of Power should be discarded for the goodness of mankind.

Making ALASKA Champions into Young Filipino Athlete!!!

Some, Basketball has been their strokes of life, an Air to breathe for some players. The moment they wake up, they carry a ball on their breakfast table. So, what steps should they do. Work on it and be the best as they can. Show their skils, their stamina and endurance. Running in the court, making a pass, a 3pt shot and a strong lay up to reach their dreams. Repetition and practice daily are merits to dwell on their fight inside the court.

Dribble a ball and look for a jump shot. Making a straight win and a good defensive steal. That's what life is. You need discipline, will , perseverance and most of all faith in one's self to be a Champion like Alaska, molding one's future to be brave and focus on climbing the top.

I've been seeing kids joining since Day 1 in Don Bosco and even in Regional in Baguio Training Camp. I see fire in their Eyes, eager to learn some tips and skills by experts coaches of Jr.NBA. Excited to be part in a World of Basketball, wherein they expresses their real joy as a child. Where does champions starts, I can tell you the moment, they step in a court, the first time, they felt the cramps of their muscles, the perspiration fell on their faces, the 1st thirst for water and the sigh gasping for air as they go back and forth to have a nice game.

That is where all started, their experience & big will to be part of the Game.

Finally, players were chosen from the Regional Training Camp for Jr.NBA/ Jr.WNBA. To start for  Day 1, Saturday, a total of 1,114 boys and girls (1030 boys, 84 girls) went to Don Bosco Technical Institute in Manila to take part in the program where their basketball skills were tested/checked. At the end of the day, 40 boys and 24 girls were chosen to return for Day 2 of the camp where amongst them the RSC Manila representatives to the National Training Camp will be chosen.

While, on Day 2, the basketball clinic was held in the morning and in the afternoon where the scrimmages, were the boys and girls were grouped into teams and were made to play sets of basketball games where they can apply all that they have learned from day 1 and from the basketball clinic in the morning.

At the end of Day 2, those who qualified for the NTC were announced:

To sum it up for this year Jr.NBA/ Jr.WNBA, here are the list:

Girls: (8)

Dianne Camille Nolasco
Lalaine Gonzales
Carly Monreal
Lindsey Nacional

Ma Cecilia Quilenderino
Princess Marie Villarin
Jonalyn Bongalos

Boys: (16)
Mark Glenn Gabon
Luis Gabriel Aguila
Anjelo Raphael Argente
Jhondhel Austria
Jearico Nunez
Kai Zachary Sotto
Andrei Philip Lechoncito
Mark Nicole Lucban
Reich Randell Villegas
Prince Junnell De Belen
Pauloh Villarin
Patrick Lance Inting
Jericho Ross Paglinawan
Miguel Rey Luis Tan
Devon Dein Diez
Russel Ducane

Filipino Kid grew up playing a ball. Even, in provinces, you can see them in the afternoon, simply, playing with friends & exploring around the Court near their Barangay. Basketball is on their veins, heart & their system. Ordinary hobby to be enriched with proper technique and knowledge strategies to win the game.

So, I'm not surprised that beyond the years that Jr.NBA/ Jr.WNBA had continue their advocacy to search Filipino Young players to develop their skills had been a huge success. Year by year, outstanding numbers had been joining across the Philippine Region to showcase their inner love for Basketball.

Witnessing all kids with all ages enjoy basketball during Jr.NBA /Jr.WNBA is such a joy & an overwheming experience. I met a lot of girl players and petite/ tall boys who had the speed and good hands for shooting. I sense their happiness and their goal to be recognized and learn more.

This is such a big priviledge to be one of the Sports Blogger of Jr.NBA/ Jr.WNBA presented by ALASKA, the most well-known in Milk Industry who has a strong advocacy for healthy lifestyle and fighting malnutrition in the land. A Company whose mission and vision to create an individual to be Champions on their own chosen field of Sports. To all Jr.NBA / Jr.WNBA a job well done for all the patience and wisdom you imparted to all Filipino Kids in terms of Basketball and life perspectives.

I love Basketball. I love seeing the game live. I grew up watching it in the TV. I experienced running a whole court in La Salle Dasma Stadium. I play few hoops in Storyland. I may not be a varsity player but when you think of it. No Filipino's haven't tried this's within our roots. Filipino players are ready to conquer the World of Basketball with our young generation of players.

Thank you ALASKA & Jr.NBA/Jr.WNBA! More power!

We left Alabang around 830am with Team Jen & my team mates in Alabang ,drive a bus at starmall going to Batangas Pier. Around 10am,we walked inside to buy some tickets bec. At 1030am are boat will leave immediately to White Beach, Puerto Galera. Then, we met our contact named Maricel, one of the staff rep. At White Beach Hotel, Our board and lodging for the whole team.

I felt the waves flashing into our boat. Prim is extremely excited. I just loved the wind touching my face. Our boat is smooth sailing,a little slow but definitely, safety first the  boat's 1st Rule.

We arrived there almost lunch time. We go straight into the room to unpack our things. Our room has A/C ,Tv w/ videoke, 1 Queen size bed and 3 solo bed. We dress up for lunch and for island hopping in the afternoon.

What makes this Galera Adventure memorable it's because this is my first time to went Snorkeling with lifevest in a deep waters of Mindoro. Wherein, I've seen colorful fishes, magnificient coral reef and gigantic sea urchins. I'm so afraid to let go of the rope because I have a water phobia, when my feet can't touch the ocean floor. But,happily, I overcome my fear. I'm so grateful to God for all his creations in the sky and even in the sea. Now, I know, how it feels to be a mermaid, Hahah...They have a big & majestic playground of corals, anemones & numerous species of fish.

Indeed, we are all tired but the experienced are overwhelming.

Yes,i'm exhausted but I still went swimming near the shore, after we arrived in island hopping. I love the ocean so much that it energize my system. So,I went alone. The water is quite cold but i love it.While, the moon watches over me.

We forgot to set the alarm. Epic fail, we didn't see the fire dance and Gay's pole dancing...Anyways,we ate tapsilog and unwind a little in a bar. Drink the famous cocktail,"THE MINDORO SWING"

In the morning, we bought pasalubong for our love one's. You can buy tshirt with Galera print for only 150,keychain & wallet for 3for100 pesos. The scarp with Galera only cost you 180pesos.

After, we travelled to the zigzag road from Galera to Calapan Mindoro, to visit my old / college friend Ronaline Dequiros. It's been 2002  since we seen each other. Also, would you believe the Van is 100 pesos each..

Here are some of our photos with her lovely house & our groufie with her kids:

Definitely, this GALERA EXCAPADES 2016 is such an exciting adventure with my Team Mates in Paypal Genpact.

Sometimes, you need to commune with nature to feel alive and be connected with our creator. People should remember to be thankful and value the creations of God given to mankind.
