Last Regional Selection for Jr.NBA Philippines 2017 happening this weekend!!!


 JR. NBA PHILIPPINES 2017 LAST REGIONAL SELECTION PRESENTED BY ALASKA AT DON BOSCO MAKATI 
APRIL 1 AND 2

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, March 27, 2017 – The fourth and last regional selection camp for Jr. NBA Philippines 2017 presented by Alaska will be held at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati on Saturday and Sunday, April 1 and 2, 2017 starting at 9 a.m.

This is the last chance for young ballers in the NCR and other provinces to participate in the National Basketball Association’s youth development program that has been touring different key cities and towns since January this year. 

Boys and girls aged 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the learn-and-achieve camp that will test their physical and basketball smarts through NBA style skills tests and basketball drills. They will also learn the STAR values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect. 

Vitals tests, skills tests and drills await participants on Day 1, during which the top performers of the day will be selected based on their scores in the vitals tests and skills challenges. On Day 2 participants will experience more intense drills, team activities and scrimmages that will determine the level of their basketball skills.

Jr. NBA coaches led by Coach Chris Sumner and local Jr. NBA coaches led by PBA Legend Jeffrey Cariaso will run the camp and make the final selection for the regional finalists. The selected players will advance to the next phase of the program and will represent the National Capital Region in the National Training Camp that will be held at Don Bosco Makati and the SM Mall of Asia on May 12-14.

At the NTC, the top performing eight boys and eight girls will be culled from the finalists of the regional selection camps held in Cagayan de Oro, Lucena, Cebu and Metro Manila and the Alaska Power Camp. The 16 ballers will be named this year’s Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA All-Stars and will enjoy a unique NBA experience later in the year that will also give them the opportunity to play with other Jr. NBA All-Stars from the Southeast Asian region.

Boys and girls born from January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2007 are encouraged to join the program by registering for the last Regional Selection Camp through the Jr. NBA event website

BALANGA, BATAAN –It’s all systems go for this year’s Bataan Freedom Run which will be held on April 2, 2017in Marivelesand the all-new Mariveles-San Fernando-Capas Freedom Trail on April 10-11, 2017 tracing the historic Bataan Death March route. Both events are slated for this year’s commemoration of the 75th year of the Bataan Death March and Philippine Veterans Week.

Now on its fourth year, the Bataan Freedom Run still has the marathon at 42 kms for serious marathon runners, plus the 21k, 10k, 5k for the running enthusiasts, and the 1km run for kids and for pets.For this year, the Bataan Freedom Run will be held in the Freeport Area in Mariveles, Bataan. All winners will receive cash prizes and medals while finishers of the 42k marathon leg of the run will have a finisher’s medal and a Bataan Freedom Run Finisher shirt. 

“It’s one of those few race events that caters to a wide spectrum of runners, from the serious marathoners, to the enthusiasts and even to the kids and the families’ pets. Our aim is to bring the whole family together in a meaningful event that remembers and honors our Filipino and American Heroes who fought for freedom during the Battle for Bataan.” said Mike Villa-Real, Head of Veterans Bank’s Corporate and Consumer Relations Division. 


“This year, on the occasion of the 75th year of the Death March, we now have the new 2017 Mariveles-San Fernando-Capas Freedom Trail which traverses the actual Death March route which covers three Prariveles, Balanga, San Fernando, Capas; History Channel and our sponsors.”

This major event links the Bataan Freedom Run and the Capas Freedom March, organized by the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB), the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and AAP Travel – the organizer of the Capas Freedom March.” Added Villa-Real.

The Freedom Trail has three major components: the 160km ultramarathon that as individual and relay categories (8 or 16 person team), the bike or “Padyak para saKagitingan” and the big motorbikes (400cc and up) or Freedom Ride. The Bike and Motorbike events are broken into 40 km legs where there are historical stops along the Death March route where re-enactors, and historians would give the participants a taste of the historic events that occurred during the route. 

“Both events are aimed at raising awareness about the Bataan Death March, that it is not and is more than a “defeat.” We were actually winning at the Battle of the Pockets in Abucay and the Battle of the Points in Mariveles; and among our Southeast Asian neighbors, we were the only people who resisted the invaders to the point that their invasion timetable wasn’t accomplished and they had to send reinforcements from abroad. Only in the Philippines.” Said Villa-Real

Since 2014, the Bataan Freedom Run is held in honor of the thousands of Filipino and American World War II veterans who endured the Bataan Death March seventy-four years ago and will be one of the highlights of this year’s celebration of Philippine Veterans Week. The route for the various distances follows the historic route taken by Filipino and American prisoners-of-war in Bataan province in 1942 when they were forced to march by their Japanese captors after the fall of Bataan and Corregidor.

“These two massive events would not have been possible without the support of our partners. We are thankful to Bataan Governor Abet Garcia of Bataan, Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, the LGUs of M. Proceeds from both events will be used to fund the restoration and maintenance of World War II Historical Markers including the Death March Kilometers along the route.

Bataan Freedom Run and the Freedom Trail are presented by Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) and co-presented by History Channel Asia; in coordination with the Provincial Government of Bataan, Provincial Government of Pampanga, the City Government of Balanga, the City Government of San Fernando, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), and with Without Limits as race consultant.

The success of this year’s Bataan Freedom Run has buoyed the optimism of PVB and its partners and sponsors in the holding of bigger and better runs in the future especially in 2017 when the Philippines celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Fall of Bataan.

Medical Experts to Share Knowledge at Mom and Baby Expo this April 2017

With just a few weeks away, moms and moms-to-be are all geared up for the first ever Mom and Baby Expo happening this April.  Organized by the Perinatal Association of the Philippines (PAP), the exhibit showcases all facets of comprehensive perinatal healthcare such as products, services, technology and new methods, all of which are intended in aiding Filipina mothers and their babies. 

One of the highlights of the Mom and Baby Expo 2017 will be a series of talks from perinatal experts pertaining to maternal-fetal and newborn topics.
Some of the topics to be discussed during the event are tips on how to get pregnant; vaccines needed for expecting moms as well as their babies; exercise and proper nutrition for a healthy pregnancy; preconception tests and Breastfeeding Pearls Exercise. Other topics include skin care protection for women who are conceiving; importance of prenatals; and ways to safeguard against diseases like vaginal infection, UTI and STDs.
PAP President Dra. Belen Velasco notes the relevance of taking time to listen to the experts during the talks. She explains: “Our objective is simple yet powerful: to impart advices and traverse new ideas moms and expectant moms can use that will ultimately strengthen their maternal bond with their babies”. 

For his part, PAP President Dr. Diosdado Mariano says “The Expo is an opportunity to analyze and seek solutions to existing issues pertaining to maternal-fetal and newborn areas in an engaging and fun way.”

The Mom and Baby Expo 2017 will also showcase pocket workshops, fun and informative activities, selling booths, food stalls and raffle prizes.

The Mom and Baby Expo 2017 will be held on April 21-23 at the SM Megamall Megatrade Halls 2 and 3. The three-day event is made possible by the PAP, in partnership with its trusted affiliates- the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecology Society (POGS), Philippine Pediatrics Society (PPS), Philippine Society of Newborn Medicine (PSNbM), Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines (MCNAP), and the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP).

I learned a lot of new SPAM(R). dishes by an exclusive cooking demo by Chef Sharwin Tee especially, the SPAM® Puto. I've tasted it, in one of the booths presented in the event. The SPAM(R). Puto is so flavorful and so delicious. 


Exciting booths includes: Can-aoke, SPAM® Dance-off, and special SPAM® dishes for free. The event works in partnership with Children’s Hour through the Make a Hero SPAMWICH™ booth, where all proceeds at the end of the event will be doubled by SPAM® and donate it to the partner foundation.


Every generous act rewards a good soul. With this "MAKE A HERO SPAMWICH" campaign, a charity for children's welfare and health will be supported & cared.

Cargo Cosmetics: Ideal Make-up for Swimmable Summer!!!


I love the heat of the sun, the sand bars and blue waters this Summer. So, what if there's a make-up that you can used and bring along to your summer activities that brightens your skin and it glows within. You can wear it even in waters and will never wear-off! That it sounds good news to all ladies? Who loves wearing make-up under the sun. 


Recently, I was able to find those answers. Indeed, I was so fascinated with their Cosmetic line-up for their Summer Collection entitled "Cargo Cosmetics: Swimmable Summer Workshop by Ms. Chinky Tanjanco".  So, what does Swimmable Summer means, it simply says makeup that won't melt off in the sun or come off in the water while you swim in deep waters. Aren't that cool enough! 


What makes me more excited with this workshop is their Cargo Foundation. Together with, Cargo High Definition Foundation for 2nd layering. It works effectively. Upon applying it to my face, it covers my pores and brings a youthful and glowing skin effect.


Then, one technique that I learned from Make-up Professional Guru, Ms. Chinky Tanjanco is my favorite "Winged-eye make-up" using an Swimmable Eye Pencil. Now, I would be able to apply that technique in my eye make-up regimen. Its simple, use an eye liner brush, brush it on the tip of the pencil. Start applying it on your eyelid and formed a wing type end on the tip of your eye. Simple yet classy. 

Also,what I love most with this eye pencil, you can draw a thin line and even a thicker line to create more dramatic look for evening party.


While, this Cargo Eye Shadow palette is perfect for basic smoky eye effect. It felt a flawless line of splendid color to my eyelids.
