Travel Blog: Surfing the Tides of Sabang Beach in Baler Aurora

Looking back on the 3rd Day of my Baler Trip 2017, last Nov.14.  I never imagine myself surfing. Like the song, "surfing in the USA". Its so unexpected. I really don't have plans to go on surfing or even learning it. I'm curious but,I know it will be very difficult. Usually, men has more courage in doing extreme activities like sky diving, jet skiing & many more. But, for women, there are some whose brave enough. While, on my part, I need a lot of prayers to try one.

It takes one hour just to convinced me, JM insisted, because he told me, "you haven't been here in Baler if you wouldn't try surfing." So, I prayed and got the courage from him.

Yes, we are definitely here in Sabang Beach, Aurora Baler, the famous place for surfing area in Luzon because it has continues and strong tidal waves, ideal for  people who loves to surf and learn new extreme water sports.


By the way, the name of my Surfing Instructor is Romuel, his a young local baler boy but his already expert in surfing. He teached me the sequence, the step by step on how I can stand & surf. I've practiced every instructions he told me. As we touched the waters. I've put a cross-sign on my forehead and prayed that i'll be fine. I'm so nervous. I'm afraid, I might drawn because I don't know how to swim. And, I'm too fearful of the waves that I might fell on the board. But, I need to conquer my fears. I need to try this activity called, "surfing" . As, Romuel assisted me to get on my board. I started to feel the strong tides. Ofcourse, I drink a lot of salt water because your lying down on the surf board while battling the waves. And, even how many times the waves continuously splashes into my board, into my face and body. We just patiently waited for the right wave to come on my path. Then, Romuel will push &  release me.

Actually, I managed to surf 4x for almost an hour. I almost stand up. But, I just kneeled-down. Its too difficult for a beginner to stand especially if you have some weight issue like I do. But, hopefully, next time, i'll managed.

Time will heal all the pain.
All the scar will be healed and lessons are learned.


Even, if I'm wounded and my knee is filled with abrasions & blood because I fell  on the sand rocks. Yes, its a little painful but its worth it because I learned surfing, not bad for a beginner like me. It is quite a memorable experience. I can't believe, I was able to surf in Baler. One of my bucketlist, that I've achieved. Thanks to my partner JM for insisting and for completing my Baler Trip Adventure 2017. Thank you for coming into my life for letting me experience this kind of adventure for a lifetime. Even, if your no longer with me at this moment.


So, guys if you want to surf in PH. Visit Baler, the travel time is 5 to 6 hrs by Bus from Manila to Baler,if you take the night trip. Just sleep on the bus because the zigzag road as you passed by in Nueva Ecija is quite dizzy and long winding road.



Remember, to look for Romuel in Sabang Beach. So, you could help him on his school allowance.Just give him a little extra tip. His quite shy but his nice and patient kid. He will help and assist you by.


For my next travel adventure. Watch out this coming 2018 as I travel to another province in the Philippines. I hope,its on Visayas or Mindanao, perhaps.

Storm is swiftly passing in the shore. The currents has been disturbed with enormous wind. The huge waves is continuously sweeping the sand castle. As it slowly, break into tiny pieces and fastly dissolving. Replacing as bodies of water.  I love staring at the sunset. Watching the waves of waters rushing near the beach, as it melt down like ice. Visit a higher place, where you can find a relaxing view and drink some cold drinks. Listen with your favorite accoustic songs. Be lost for a minute and feel the rhythm of your heart. Enjoy and set your spirit free. Free from all the miseries, betrayal, disloyalty, dishonesty and lies that surrounds you.  Visiting this place, brings back good and sad memories.
