If you will ask me, why do I love attending painting exhibit, it's because you can see the soul of each artist interpreting their desire, ambitions and their feelings. It's like keeping a series of notes painted in a canvas.

Let me, introduced to you a contemporary visual artist named Neptalie “Rico” Aunzo, also known for his masterpiece “Pedrong Masipag, has a Dream” as he celebrates his winning moments on International Viral Awards 2022 at the Grand Ballroom of the Okada Manila in Parañaque City, last April 7th, 2022.

Aunzo is a self-taught artist on his field of expertise, with his popular canvas Pedrong Masipag aka: Industrious Peter which he painted symbolizing a refined man, who works hard to earn a living, a man who expresses his love towards women and child,  which opposes to the character that we all known, Juan Tamad who just silently slept below the shades of a tree waiting for a fruit to fell off the ground.




His one of the visual artist who swept and loved by all in our country today, Aunzo devotedly painted with boundless love and passion to attain his current status. In 2020, his watercolor paintings were included in the coffee table book written by Rev. Fr. Jose Ramon T. Villarin, SJ “Siya Nga!” alongside the country’s big wigs in the art—National Artist Benedicto Cabrera, Betsy Westendorp, Justin Nuyda, Wig Tysmans, and Elmer Borlongan, among others. The book was published locally by De La Salle University Press in 2020 and internationally by Sussex Academic Press in the following year.

Living in a poverty-stricken family, Aunzo works hard by having  various jobs in the society so he can support his studies and also, can provide financially for his family.  His inspirations and ideals is coming from our famous Filipino Masters on the field of Canvas Painting, he studied all their strokes diligently until he arrived and developed his own style of expression.
